About the role
Lion Rock Outfitters started as a hiking-boot shop in Sham Shui Po and now fits out most of the people you see on the MacLehose Trail on a Sunday. Our Tsim Sha Tsui flagship is the shop that does it best — 4,800 square feet over two levels, a boot-fitting bench, a pack-loading station, and the only in-store repair counter we run.
The current manager is moving to head office to lead our new store-opening programme, so we are looking for the person who takes the floor. You will run a team of 22 across full-time and part-time, hit a monthly target that is the largest in the network, and be accountable for everything from Saturday queue length to whether the boot wall is actually shoppable at 4pm.
This is a hands-on job. Our best managers are on the floor fitting a customer at the moment the shop gets busy, not in the back office reconciling a report. You will have a full-time assistant manager, two supervisors, and a district manager who visits weekly and expects a straight answer.
What you'll do
- Deliver the store's monthly sales, conversion, average transaction value and shrinkage targets, and explain the variance before you are asked
- Recruit, roster and develop 22 team members across a seven-day trading pattern including public holidays
- Run the daily floor — opening checks, shift briefings, break coverage through the lunchtime and 6pm peaks, and cash-up
- Own stock accuracy: cycle counts, the twice-yearly full stocktake, and getting slow lines back to the DC before they age
- Lead the in-store clinic programme — boot fitting, pack fitting and the Thursday evening trail talks that bring the community in
- Handle escalated customer issues, warranty claims and repair-counter disputes personally
- Keep the store compliant on occupational safety, fire exits, and cash handling — no exceptions, no shortcuts
What we're looking for
- 6+ years in specialty retail with at least 3 years managing a store team of 15 or more
- Proven record on sales, conversion and shrinkage in a high-footfall Hong Kong location
- Native Cantonese plus confident English and Mandarin — a third of our flagship traffic is visitors
- Comfortable with rostering, labour-hour control and the Employment Ordinance basics for shift staff
- Higher diploma or above, or equivalent retail management experience we can verify
Nice to have
- Personal experience of hiking, trail running or climbing in Hong Kong — you will be asked for advice daily
- Worked through a store refit or relocation
- Familiar with a modern retail POS and clienteling app
What you get
- Monthly store performance commission on top of base salary
- 50% staff purchase on own-brand gear, 30% on third-party brands
- 17 days annual leave plus five-day roster with two consecutive days off most weeks
- Medical, dental and outpatient Chinese medicine
- Paid trail days — two a year, on the company, with your team
