About the role
Parkview Life writes participating whole-life, critical illness and savings products for the Hong Kong and visiting-customer markets. Life Pricing & Product Actuarial is a team of eleven sitting in Quarry Bay, and it is where a product exists first: as a profit-testing model, months before marketing ever writes a brochure line.
The analyst who held this seat has moved into valuation, so we are looking for someone two to four exams in who wants to spend the next few years on pricing rather than reporting. You would work across a product manager, the reinsurance team and distribution, and you will be expected to explain your numbers to people who do not read Prophet output for a living.
Study support here is not a line in the handbook. Study leave is booked into the team calendar at the start of each exam session and the pricing deadlines are planned around it — the head of the team is a qualified actuary who remembers what sitting two papers at once feels like.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain profit-testing models for new and repriced life and critical illness products
- Run sensitivity and scenario testing on lapse, mortality and interest assumptions, and write up what actually drives the result
- Support reinsurance quotation exchanges — prepare data packs and evaluate terms received
- Prepare pricing papers and product filing documentation for internal committee and regulatory submission
- Assist with experience studies feeding back into the pricing assumption basis
- Answer distribution's illustration and competitor-comparison questions without letting the sales narrative bend the maths
What we're looking for
- 2+ years in a life actuarial function — pricing, valuation or experience analysis
- At least three actuarial examinations passed towards SOA, IFoA or an equivalent recognised path, and actively progressing
- Degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics or a comparably quantitative subject
- Fluent Excel and VBA; working knowledge of Prophet, AXIS or a similar actuarial modelling platform
- Business English for documentation, with conversational Cantonese for day-to-day work with distribution
Nice to have
- Exposure to participating fund mechanics or universal life
- Python or R for experience analysis outside the modelling platform
- Prior involvement in a product filing with the Insurance Authority
What you get
- Guaranteed double pay plus a cash bonus for every actuarial exam passed
- Paid study leave scheduled into the team plan, plus exam fees and materials
- Medical, dental and life cover, with staff rates on the company's own products
- Two work-from-home days a week once you are past probation
- Quarry Bay office five minutes from the MTR, with a subsidised canteen
