About the role
CloudPeak does not have a QA department that receives finished software and takes the blame. It has a quality engineering chapter: engineers who sit inside delivery teams, own the test architecture, and are expected to argue with a design before it is built rather than after.
We need a senior person in that chapter because our release surface has doubled. The control plane, the console, the mobile approvals app and the Terraform modules all ship on different cadences into environments where a bad release means a customer's change advisory board never trusts us again.
You would work across three delivery squads, with the release engineers who own the pipelines and with the reliability team who inherit whatever we miss. This is a hands-on role — if you have not written test code in two years, this is not the right move.
What you'll do
- Own the automated test strategy across the control plane, console and Terraform module library, and make the case for it to engineering leads.
- Build and maintain integration and end-to-end suites in Go and TypeScript that run against ephemeral Kubernetes environments.
- Cut the flake rate on the main pipeline below 1% and keep the full suite under twenty minutes.
- Design contract tests between the control plane and the console so the two teams can ship independently.
- Build the regression pack for regulated releases, including the evidence customers' auditors expect to see.
- Coach engineers in the squads on writing tests worth keeping, and review test code as seriously as production code.
What we're looking for
- Six or more years in software quality engineering, with substantial hands-on automation.
- Fluent in at least one of Go, Python or TypeScript, and comfortable reading the other two.
- Experience testing distributed systems and APIs — not only web interfaces.
- CI/CD ownership: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or equivalent, including pipeline performance work.
- Business Cantonese and English — you will run test-strategy sessions with customer QA teams in both.
Nice to have
- Kubernetes and Terraform testing (kind, Testcontainers, Terratest).
- Performance and load testing at realistic scale.
- Experience in a regulated delivery environment with formal change control.
What you get
- 13th month salary
- Certification budget covering CKA and cloud provider exams
- Medical and dental for the family
- 20 days annual leave, rising to 25
- Hybrid working — two days a week on site
