About the role
Tsang & Partners audits about 280 Hong Kong entities a year: trading groups in Kwun Tong, two GEM-listed issuers, a scattering of NGOs and the local subsidiaries of European manufacturers. It is broad work, which is exactly why people join us from the large firms. You see a whole set of accounts instead of one cash cycle.
This seat opened because a senior moved to a client's finance team in June, and we wrote the reference. You would inherit a portfolio of roughly fourteen engagements, take two semi-seniors onto each job, and report to a manager who was in your chair three years ago.
Busy season runs January to April and we staff for it rather than pretending it will not happen. Fieldwork is at client offices across Hong Kong Island and East Kowloon; the rest of the year you are in Causeway Bay.
What you'll do
- Plan and execute audits under HKFRS and HKSA for private groups and two GEM-listed clients.
- Lead fieldwork on site, allocate sections to semi-seniors and review their working papers before the manager sees them.
- Prepare statutory financial statements and notes, including consolidation for groups with PRC subsidiaries.
- Resolve audit differences directly with client financial controllers and escalate only what genuinely needs a partner.
- Draft management letters that point at a fixable control weakness rather than restating the obvious.
- Handle profits tax computations and BIR51 filings for the clients you audit.
What we're looking for
- Degree in accounting or finance and at least three years in external audit with a Hong Kong practice.
- HKICPA qualified, or a finalist with no more than two modules outstanding.
- Solid HKFRS knowledge, particularly HKFRS 15, HKFRS 16 and the impairment sections of HKFRS 9.
- Cantonese and English: you will explain a control finding in one and write it up in the other.
- Willing to travel to client sites across Hong Kong and, twice a year, to Shenzhen or Dongguan.
Nice to have
- Experience with listed-company reporting deadlines and interim reviews.
- CaseWare or a comparable audit documentation platform.
- Mandarin for factory visits north of the border.
What you get
- HKICPA membership, QP fees and paid study leave
- Overtime compensated in cash during busy season, not only in time off
- 13th month plus a discretionary performance bonus
- Medical insurance covering Chinese medicine and physiotherapy
- Two weeks of protected leave in May, after the reporting rush
