Payroll Specialist (Part-time, 3 days)

About the role

Our outsourced payroll desk sits in Quarry Bay, away from the audit floors, because payroll data should not wander. Sixty client companies, roughly 4,000 payslips a month, and a cycle that has not missed a pay date in eleven years.

We are opening a part-time seat: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with a fourth day expected at month-end and through April. It suits someone with real payroll depth who is not looking for a full-time commitment — returning parents, semi-retired practitioners, and anyone who has done enough five-day weeks.

Amy Chiu manages the team of five. Discretion is most of the job: you will see every salary in sixty companies and mention none of them.

What you'll do

• Run end-to-end monthly payroll for a portfolio of client companies, including new hires, leavers and mid-month changes.
• Calculate MPF contributions, long service and severance payments, and statutory holiday, sickness and maternity pay.
• Prepare and file employer's returns — IR56B, IR56E, IR56F and IR56G — within IRD deadlines.
• Compute final payments on termination, including payment in lieu of notice and annual leave encashment.
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and pass the journals to each client's finance contact.
• Answer client and employee payslip queries with patience and precision.

What we're looking for

• Five or more years of Hong Kong payroll experience, ideally across multiple employers or as a service provider.
• Detailed working knowledge of the Employment Ordinance, the MPF Ordinance and IRD reporting requirements.
• Experience with a Hong Kong payroll system and the reports it produces at year end.
• Cantonese and written English for client correspondence.
• Absolute discretion with confidential data — a condition of the role, not a preference.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Mainland social insurance or Macau payroll.
• Experience migrating clients onto a new payroll platform.
• HKIHRM membership.
