About the role
Talent Harbour's rewards practice publishes benchmarking covering about 600 Hong Kong employers and advises clients on pay structures, job levelling and bonus design. The dataset is the product; the analysis is what clients pay for.
This role exists because our salary survey doubled its participants this year and the modelling is still being done by two people in spreadsheets that only they understand. We want it rebuilt properly, by someone who enjoys that kind of work rather than tolerating it.
The team is remote-first: Bianca Ferreira runs it from Hong Kong with analysts in Kuala Lumpur and Taipei, and we meet in Central once a fortnight for the analysis review. If you need constant supervision this will not suit you. If you would rather be judged on the quality of your output, it will.
What you'll do
- Maintain and extend the Hong Kong salary survey dataset, including job matching across client submissions.
- Build compensation models: salary ranges, pay progression curves and market positioning by function and level.
- Produce client-facing benchmarking reports with commentary that goes beyond restating the percentiles.
- Run job evaluation and levelling exercises using our framework, and defend the outcomes to client HR teams.
- Model the cost of pay review scenarios including MPF, statutory entitlements and bonus accruals.
- Analyse benefits data — medical, leave, allowances — and show where a client's spend is out of step with the market.
- Automate the survey pipeline so that next year's cycle does not require heroics.
What we're looking for
- Three or more years in compensation and benefits, reward consulting or HR analytics.
- Strong Excel modelling, plus SQL or Python for data preparation — both are genuinely used here.
- Understanding of Hong Kong statutory entitlements, MPF and taxable benefits.
- Excellent written English, because the report is the deliverable.
- Able to work independently across time zones with light supervision.
Nice to have
- Experience with a points-factor or comparable job evaluation methodology.
- Power BI or Tableau for client-facing dashboards.
- Regional dataset experience covering Singapore or Taiwan.
What you get
- Remote-first with a HK$8,000 home office allowance
- Flexible hours around two fixed team overlaps each week
- Medical and dental cover including dependants
- Annual data and analytics training budget
- 20 days' annual leave plus a fully closed week in late December
