About the role
Talent Harbour's financial services desk places compliance, finance and operations professionals into licensed corporations and mid-tier banks across Hong Kong Island. The desk has run for six years and has eleven clients on retainer, so this is not a cold start.
You would inherit around forty live candidate relationships and three retained mandates from a consultant who has moved onto our executive search team. From there the desk is yours to grow. We do not police call volumes; we look at placements, client retention and whether a candidate would work with you twice.
Jerome Tang runs the team of six from our Central office. Expect early mornings on interview days and a floor that gets loud when a deal lands.
What you'll do
- Manage the full recruitment cycle for mid-level compliance, finance and operations roles: brief, search, shortlist, interview, offer.
- Build a candidate network through referrals, market mapping and career conversations that are useful even when there is no live role.
- Write job briefs with clients that reflect what they will actually hire, not what the job description says.
- Prepare candidates properly for interview, including the salary conversation nobody wants to have.
- Negotiate offers, manage counter-offer risk and stay in touch through the notice period.
- Keep the CRM accurate — a clean database is the desk's only real asset.
- Contribute quarterly salary insight to the practice's market notes.
What we're looking for
- One to four years in agency recruitment, or a client-facing sales record you can evidence with numbers.
- Cantonese and English at business level: most candidate calls happen in Cantonese, most client emails in English.
- Resilience — the desk does not care how good your Monday was by the time Thursday arrives.
- Genuine curiosity about how financial services firms are structured and who reports to whom.
Nice to have
- An existing network in Hong Kong compliance or finance functions.
- Mandarin for candidates relocating from the Mainland.
- Exposure to contract or interim staffing.
What you get
- Base salary plus uncapped commission from the first placement, no threshold
- Quarterly incentive trips — last year Da Nang and Taipei
- Early Friday finish once the desk hits target
- Medical and dental, with employer MPF at 7.5%
- Published billing milestones to Senior Consultant, so promotion is arithmetic
