QA Engineer (12-Month Contract)

About the role

Sable FX is a twenty-person shop in Central building FX execution and hedging tools for trading firms and corporate treasuries. Small team, serious money moving through it, and — until now — a test strategy that has been generous to itself.

We are bringing in a QA engineer on a twelve-month contract for a specific, bounded job: build an automated regression suite around the pricing and order entry paths, get it running in CI on every merge, and leave behind documentation the four permanent engineers will actually maintain. This is a deliverable, not a headcount.

The role is fully remote within Hong Kong hours, with an optional desk in Central if you prefer to be in. We are candid that this is a contract with no committed extension; we are equally candid that the last two contractors who did this well were offered permanent seats.

What you'll do

• Design and build an automated regression suite covering FX pricing, quote streaming and order entry flows
• Wire the suite into CI with sensible parallelisation, so a full run finishes inside the coffee break it deserves
• Write and maintain exploratory test charters for the areas automation should not cover
• Reproduce, isolate and document production defects with the detail an engineer needs to fix them once
• Establish and hand over the test data strategy, including anonymised market data fixtures
• Leave working documentation and run two handover sessions before the contract ends

What we're looking for

• 3+ years in software QA with real automation authorship, not just execution
• Strong with a modern test framework — Playwright, Cypress or equivalent — plus API-level testing
• Comfortable in a CI pipeline and able to debug a flaky test rather than retry it
• Business English; the engineering team works entirely in English
• Able to work independently across a remote arrangement and report progress without being chased

Nice to have

• Exposure to FX, trading or other low-latency financial systems
• Performance or load testing experience
• Familiarity with FIX protocol message flows
