About the role
Marketing at Tidewall is five people and a budget we can defend line by line. We are not a brand-awareness shop: the funnel starts with a Hong Kong merchant searching for a payment gateway at 10pm and ends with their first live transaction, and every activity we run has to move a step in between.
This role owns acquisition and activation. That means paid search and social, the content that ranks for the queries merchants actually type in Cantonese and English, the onboarding email and WhatsApp sequences, and the referral programme that currently generates a fifth of our new sign-ups.
You will get autonomy quickly. The last person in this seat rebuilt our activation sequence in their second month and lifted first-transaction conversion by eleven points — nobody asked permission, they just showed the test design in the Monday standup.
What you'll do
- Plan, run and optimise paid acquisition across search and social, with weekly reporting on cost per qualified sign-up
- Own the activation journey from sign-up to first transaction: lifecycle email, in-product prompts and WhatsApp follow-up
- Produce bilingual content — comparison pages, integration guides, merchant case studies — that earns organic traffic rather than buying it
- Run the merchant referral programme, including incentive design and fraud-aware attribution
- Build and maintain the growth dashboard; if a number is on it, you can explain how it is calculated
- Work with product on the parts of onboarding that marketing cannot fix with copy
What we're looking for
- 3+ years in growth, performance or lifecycle marketing, ideally for a B2B or SaaS product
- Hands-on with paid platforms and analytics — you build the campaign and read the result yourself
- Native Cantonese and business English writing; our merchants read both and notice translated copy
- Familiarity with a marketing automation or CRM platform and basic SQL or spreadsheet modelling
Nice to have
- Payments, fintech or e-commerce category experience
- Simplified Chinese copy for cross-border merchant campaigns
- Basic HTML/CSS for landing page edits without waiting on engineering
What you get
- Three office days at Cyberport, two wherever you work best
- Medical and dental from day one
- HK$8,000 annual budget for courses, tools or conferences
- 18 days annual leave plus your birthday off
- Real ownership of budget from your first quarter
