Freight Forwarding Operations Executive

About the role

Eastwind Freight moves roughly 40,000 tonnes of airfreight a year out of Hong Kong, mostly electronics, semiconductors and temperature-controlled pharma. Our operations floor sits inside the airport cargo precinct, minutes from the terminals, because in this business the difference between a good forwarder and a bad one is how fast someone can physically get to a shipment.

This role sits in the export team of six. You will own a book of shipper accounts from booking to uplift confirmation: quoting against the airline allotments our procurement team negotiates, cutting the MAWB and HAWB, clearing dangerous goods paperwork, and chasing the handling agent when a pallet does not build in time.

It is a role for someone who likes closure. Most days end with everything flown. The days that do not are the ones where you earn your money — rebooking, re-routing, and telling the customer the truth before they find out from the tracking page.

What you'll do

• Take export bookings from shippers and overseas agents, quote against airline allotments, and confirm space
• Prepare and issue MAWB/HAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates of origin without errors
• Coordinate pick-up, build-up and delivery to the handling agent against airline cut-off times
• Process dangerous goods and temperature-controlled shipments in line with IATA DGR and CEIV Pharma handling standards
• Resolve irregularities — offloads, short-shipments, damage — and file claims with airlines and insurers
• Keep the operating system updated in real time so customer service and finance are never working off stale data

What we're looking for

• Higher Diploma or above in Logistics, Transport or Supply Chain Management
• 3+ years of hands-on airfreight export operations at a forwarder or handling agent
• Valid IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations certificate (Category 6) or willingness to obtain within 3 months
• Fluent Cantonese and solid written English — most of your agent correspondence is in English
• Able to work a rotating shift including some Saturdays, and stay late when a cut-off moves

Nice to have

• Experience with CEIV Pharma or GDP-compliant cold chain shipments
• Familiarity with CargoWise or a comparable forwarding system
• Airport Restricted Area Permit already held
