Registered Nurse — Specialist Outpatient

About the role

Our Tsim Sha Tsui specialist centre sees roughly 480 patients a day across cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology and general surgery. Nursing here is outpatient work in the truest sense — triage and vitals before the consultation, procedure prep and recovery, patient education that actually lands, and the follow-up calls that stop a discharged patient from bouncing back to A&E two weeks later.

We opened two additional consultation suites in June and a third endoscopy room comes online in Q4, so we are adding four Registered Nurses to the outpatient floor rather than stretching the current team thinner. Sessions are 8am–5pm or 11am–8pm; we do not run overnight shifts, and Sunday clinics are on a voluntary rota paid at 1.5x.

You will report to the Nurse Manager for the specialist floor and work alongside a fixed pod of two specialists, an enrolled nurse and a healthcare assistant — the same faces every week, which is how continuity of care survives a busy list. Selina Kwok, our Director of Nursing, meets every new RN in week one and again at ninety days.

What you'll do

• Triage arriving patients, take and chart vitals, and flag red-flag presentations to the attending specialist before the consultation starts
• Prepare, assist with and recover patients for minor procedures including endoscopy, wound care, ECG, spirometry and joint injections
• Deliver structured patient education on diabetes self-monitoring, anticoagulation and post-procedure care in Cantonese and English
• Manage the clinic's drug cupboard, controlled-drug register and cold-chain vaccine log to HA-equivalent standards
• Run the 72-hour post-procedure telephone follow-up list and escalate complications to the on-call specialist
• Maintain accurate records in our electronic medical record and support the monthly clinical audit sample
• Precept enrolled nurses and student placements from local nursing schools during their outpatient rotation

What we're looking for

• Registered Nurse (General) with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong, Part I, holding a valid practising certificate
• At least 2 years post-registration experience, with some exposure to outpatient, day-procedure or specialist clinic settings
• Current BLS certification; willingness to complete ACLS within six months (sponsored)
• Fluent spoken Cantonese and confident written English for clinical documentation
• Comfortable working across an electronic medical record rather than paper notes

Nice to have

• Post-registration certificate in endoscopy, wound care or diabetes nursing
• Experience in a private specialist or day-surgery centre
• Putonghua for our visiting mainland patients
