About the role
Bamboo & Steel Engineering is the main contractor on a 32-storey residential development in Tseung Kwan O, currently completing foundation works and moving into podium construction over the next quarter. The site team is 40-strong and the contract runs to late 2028.
We are taking on a site engineer on a 24-month project contract, with the intention of converting to permanent and rolling onto the next scheme if it works both ways. You will be responsible for setting out, checking subcontractor works against drawings, raising RFIs, and keeping the daily records that decide who pays when something goes wrong six months later.
You will report to the Section Engineer and work alongside the site agent, the safety team and the RSE's site staff. If you are still working toward HKIE corporate membership, we are an approved Scheme A training organisation and your supervisor will sign your quarterly reports properly, not two weeks before the deadline.
What you'll do
- Set out structural works and verify subcontractor setting-out and levels before pours
- Supervise reinforced concrete, formwork and rebar fixing works against approved drawings and method statements
- Prepare and track RFIs, technical queries and site instructions with the consultant team
- Check and sign off temporary works, and coordinate with the RSE and independent checking engineer where required
- Keep daily site diaries, labour and plant returns, and photographic records for potential claims
- Attend weekly progress and coordination meetings; chase subcontractors on the four-week look-ahead
- Support quality inspections and the handover of completed sections to the client's team
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering accredited by HKIE
- 3+ years of site experience with a main contractor on building or civil works
- Working knowledge of the Buildings Ordinance, Code of Practice for Structural Use of Concrete and site supervision plans
- Valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card)
- Fluent Cantonese for the site floor and competent written English for consultant correspondence
Nice to have
- HKIE Scheme A training already in progress
- AutoCAD and basic Revit for markup and coordination
- Experience with precast facade or MiC installation
What you get
- Site allowance on top of base plus a completion gratuity at the end of the contract
- HKIE Scheme A supervision and sponsored professional assessment fees
- Medical and dental cover plus group personal accident insurance
- PPE, site boots and wet-weather kit provided and replaced
- Alternate Saturdays off — a real five-and-a-half day week, not five-and-three-quarters
