About the role
Our documentation is the reason a platform engineer at an insurer can provision a compliant environment on a Tuesday afternoon without talking to anybody at CloudPeak. When it is good, support volume falls and adoption rises; when it is stale, we find out through an angry thread in a shared Teams channel.
This is a twelve-month contract, renewable, created because we are shipping a major version of the developer platform and the documentation has to be rewritten alongside it — in English and in Traditional Chinese, because several of our public-sector and hospital customers require Chinese-language operational documentation.
You will work from the Kwun Tong office two days a week, embedded with the developer experience team, and you will have direct access to the engineers who built the thing. Docs live in the same repository as the code and go through the same review.
What you'll do
- Rewrite the developer platform documentation set for the next major version: concepts, tutorials, how-to guides and reference.
- Produce and maintain the Traditional Chinese edition — translated with judgement, not machine-translated and tidied.
- Generate and edit API reference from OpenAPI specifications, and push back when the specifications are wrong.
- Write the operational runbooks customers hand to their own duty teams, including the ones auditors read.
- Run the docs-as-code workflow: Markdown in Git, pull-request review, previews and link checking in CI.
- Sit in on customer onboarding sessions to hear which page they could not find.
What we're looking for
- Four or more years writing developer or technical documentation for a software product.
- Native-level written Traditional Chinese and business-level written English — samples in both will be requested.
- Docs-as-code experience: Git, Markdown, static site generators, review in pull requests.
- Ability to read API specifications and basic code, and to interrogate an engineer politely but persistently.
- Right to work in Hong Kong for the full contract term.
Nice to have
- Cloud or infrastructure documentation experience.
- Information architecture work on a documentation site that had outgrown its structure.
- Experience writing for regulated or public-sector audiences.
What you get
- Contract completion gratuity
- Medical cover from day one
- MPF employer top-up to 9%
- 18 days annual leave, pro-rated
- Hybrid — two days a week at the Kwun Tong office
