About the role
Our corporate credit team of fourteen underwrites everything from a HK$40 million revolver for a Kwai Chung importer to a syndicated facility for a listed property developer. Analysts here are not spreadsheet labour attached to a relationship manager; each analyst owns a sector sleeve and is named as the recommending officer on every paper they write.
We are adding a seat because the corporate book grew 19% last year and the annual review calendar has become the bottleneck. You would take the industrials and building materials sleeve, roughly 45 names, working alongside two senior analysts and reporting to the Senior Credit Manager.
Expect real disagreement. Papers get challenged in committee, and analysts are expected to hold their ground with evidence rather than defer. The upside is that after two years you will have argued more live credit decisions than most people see in five.
What you'll do
- Spread and normalise audited financials, build three-year projections and stress the base case for covenant headroom.
- Write full credit applications and annual reviews with a clear, defensible recommendation and risk grading.
- Assign and maintain internal risk ratings, documenting every override with rationale.
- Monitor covenant compliance, borrowing base certificates and early warning triggers across your sleeve.
- Support the relationship managers in structuring discussions before a term sheet goes out, not after.
- Contribute to quarterly sector reviews on Hong Kong industrials and construction materials.
What we're looking for
- 3+ years in credit analysis, corporate banking or transaction-based lending in Hong Kong.
- Confident financial statement analysis under HKFRS, including consolidation and related-party unpicking.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or equivalent.
- Written English strong enough that your paper goes to committee unedited.
- Comfortable reading Chinese-language audited accounts from mainland subsidiaries.
Nice to have
- CFA Level II or above, or an active HKICPA membership.
- Exposure to construction, engineering or building materials borrowers.
- Familiarity with Moody's RiskAnalyst or a comparable spreading platform.
What you get
- Two days working from home each week once you clear probation
- Study leave and full fee reimbursement for CFA or HKICPA
- Medical, dental and an annual health screening
- 17 days annual leave plus statutory holidays
- Subsidised lunch at the Central staff canteen
